doyle-brunsonDoyle Brunson is undoubtedly one of the most popular names when it comes to the world famous Poker Stars who have been praised for their indomitable spirit and incomparable skills in the game. Fondly Doyle was even known as the Godfather of Poker due to his age and his status in the gaming fraternity.

He transformed the world of poker giving a snazzier outlook way back in the 1970s. The recipient of the maximum number of World Series of Poker bracelets, Doyle has an astonishing collection of bracelets which count up to ten in number.

Hailing from Longworth in Texas, Brunson was not an established Poker player from the start. Instead, he was a passionate athlete with extremely commendable talent in Basketball. Being an athlete was always his first choice in career but tragically this dream as short-lived when he underwent a knee accident which left him unfit to continue with the game. Although he could not attain his aim of becoming an established basketball player, the sportsmanship in him showed up through his avid interest in Poker.

Doyle Brunson managed to earn himself a very quirky nickname in the form of Texas Dolly owing to a very interesting incident where Jimmy Snyder had wrongly read his name as Dolly instead of Doyle. Henceforth, he came to be known as Texas Dolly in reference to his hometown. The world’s beloved, Texas Dolly though proved his mettle over the years with more and more honourable titles being added to his name after every win.

Doyle Brunson achieved an altogether new status as an author when he published his book Super System. To call the book a bestseller would not be giving it enough of importance as much as it received from the public when it was warmly received by them. It gave a brand new outlook to Poker in terms of effective strategies come right from the master of the game, tips, theories and modernised takes on the games like Stud, draw, razz etc.

He wrote another book which achieved success called the Wisdom of a Champion. His Poker room aptly called Doyle’s room has a wide range of players who draw immense inspiration from one of the best Poker players in history.

After dedicating 34 important years of his life to the game of Poker, it is most befitting for him to be included as an important member of the Poker Hall of Fame after becoming one of the most influential people in the world of Poker.
